Here Goes Nothing ...

I've dabbled in blogging over the years, but never considered myself a “blogger” by title (I feel more comfortable with creative freelancer 😊). On any given day, you can catch me with a spiral notepad and a fine print pen capturing my thoughts, adding to my bucket list, or recapping the day. Even in today’s digital world, I still cling to my fine print pen and pad.
So, what changed? This year I had a milestone birthday. On August 4th, I turned 30 years old!  Toasting to this milestone year, I committed to a new year’s resolution. My NY's resolution is to live intentionally.  I define "living intentionally" as enjoying myself while S T R E T C H I N G my comfort zone. Most people are uncomfortable trying new things. As am I. I think there is so much to learn from new experiences.

I am an introvert by nature. Being committed to my new year’s resolution, I’m pushing myself to be more social and outgoing. *insert side eye* There’s a myriad of ways I could probably do that, right? Well, I’m not one to shy away from a challenge, so I jumped right in!

I wanted to see Bruno Mars in concert every since his 24K Magic tour announcement. However, none of my friends wanted to go after being shocked by the ticket prices! Living intentionally, I took it as an opportunity to try someone new: attend a concert alone. Unfortunately, most of the concert dates close to me were sold out. After much contemplation, I purchased a ticket for the Midtown Music festival in Atlanta. I committed to going to a festival solo (in another city). Talk about being engaged! The concert was a few weeks ago. I had a fantastic time! Bruno Mars is an exceptional performer! I met a few new people at the festival. I guess I can get used to this living intentionally thing after all.
I’ve owned and operated Sincerely Shayla for about a decade with most new clients coming from referral. I was okay with that. Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on how you view it) that mindset does not work when you are “living intentionally.”

Earlier this year, I listed my top 5 goals for Sincerely Shayla. Three are complete. One was to create a blog (check). The last is on track for completion by the end of the year.

I expect this blog to be a creative outlet for my grit! While you may have read “Shayla’s Story” on SincerelyShayla.com, you don’t know much about my personality. I intend to use this blog to connect more with my Sincerely Shayla audience by expressing my thoughts and experiences as I cross off items on my bucket list. I hope you tune in and share your thoughts as well.

Let's socialize! What are your 2017 new year's resolutions? Have you achieved your 2017 goals? Share in the comment section!

Until next time!

Sincerely,

Shayla
